Award winning LMS students

Quite an amazing number of students from LMS recently won some big awards, especially given how many other students from around the state and nation were also competing! This emphasizes the quality of our LMS students and teachers!

Tristan Cortes (7th grade) won one of 30 Major League Baseball Club Prize Package in the Breaking Barriers Essay Contest sponsored by Major League Baseball and Scholastic (about 9,700 entries).

Kari Hustad (7th grade) was named the WA state grade level winner in the National Handwriting Contest sponsored by Saner-Bloser. Her sister Anika Hustad (6th grade) won for the 6th grade! (325,000 entries!).

Katy-Rose Jordan (7th grade) and Livia Lomne-Licastro (6th grade) were chosen as two of 98 state finalist in the 2012 Letters About Literature Contest sponsored by the Library of Congress (5,500 WA students).

Antonia Knox – 1st place personal story

Bayley Gochanour – 1st place non-fiction

Katyrose Jordan – 1st place poetry

Max Cassee – 3rd place poetry

Kari Hustad – 3rd place fiction
