The cougars will now add biking to their already extensive list of offerings for students at LMS. The PE Dept. applied for and won a grant that will facilitate the creation of a bicycle safety program encouraging ridership by the student population. This includes the purchase of 30 multi-use Trek bikes, helmets, safety training, and cargo trailer for potential rides off site. Staff has been busy cleaning out and facilitating a stall in the old bus barn located on the LMS campus for bike and trailer storage. Staff will go through an extensive training this spring with students beginning to ride shortly thereafter. Much of the success of winning this grant was due to the infrastructure and program offerrings already in place at LMS, as well as the enthusiasm of staff to take time out to attend trainings and make offerrings available to the whole student body. In a time of financial shortcomings, LMS has once again proven to be innovative in giving the best programs possible to the students of LMS. Way to go!!!
